The presses are running late today. Or is it the idiot who is pressing the keys is running late? I think it is the latter.
Hope everyone had a nice Mother's Day. Mom had visitors but slept through most of them. I could not keep her awake no matter how hard I tried. She got several beautiful flowers and gorgeous cards. Today, she received a card from Randy, Toni and Julia which included a picture of our gorgeous Miss Julia.
I am afraid that Mom is getting her days and nights mixed up and the girl who was here from Home Health said it is part of the disease and nothing I can do to change it. She was up from midnight on last night yelling out names. Then suddenly at 8:00 a.m. she went to sleep and has slept most of the day. This made it very hard on us working with her with physical therapy. She chooses to keep her eyes closed alot.
Jeff and I did get her to walk with her cane from her bed to the front door but mainly it was Jeff maintaining most of her weight on his body and me holding her by her pants and pushing the wheelchair behind her so she would not fall. But she was doing the work of putting her feet one in front of the other which is new to her. She has a constant problem of wanting to cross her feet but Jeff took care of that by putting his foot and leg between her feet and she actually took steps.
He took her to the front door to see the beautiful plant that Jack got her that is hanging on the front porch.
Ada heard somewhere that a speech therapist is sometimes used to help a person learn to chew again, so we asked Shayla if it was possible to get a speech therapist and she was going back to check with Cindy, her boss to see if we can do this and she also said that she felt I needed more help and is checking to see if she can come bathe her 3 times a week instead of 2,because I bathe Mom on the days Shayla does not come. Somehow this weekend I pulled my left arm lifting Mom and Jeff (physical therapist) said it is the rotator cuff and wants me to start icing it. I have been using Ben Gay, I love Ben Gay.
Don't have time for a rotator cuff problem now.
Ada had a dentist appointment and came here afterwards to stay with Mom so I could run up to the bank and back to Krogers to get a couple of things I forgot earlier. I also stopped and got Mom and I Starbucks.
Mom drank a little so far, but not much. Will try more later.
Talked to my friend Sherry Slaughter (from CA) who is in Bilouxi, Miss.
visitng her parents who are also in their 90's and she will be coming in here the end of the week. I can't wait to see her. Sherry does marvelous work for Campus Crusade for Christ and has been since she graduated from Marshall University. Wow, where has the time gone?
Got to go see if I can get Mom to eat. later vada
